LAST MINUTE HIKE TO POTATO MTN
Details
Let's do a short but sweet hike this week to a popular summit at the Southern edge of the San Gabriel mountains. It's on the Lower Peaks list of the Sierra Club.
We won't be taking the traditional route along the road. Instead, we will be taking the mountaineers route then descend the fire road making it a loop hike.
Don't let the short mileage fool you. The route I've chosen is a challenging but a fun ascent. We did this back in 2023 and we were pleasantly surprised with lots of wildflowers.
Lots of climbing at the start but worth the effort and views. After that it is all downhill.
Once you get to the top you will see why they call it Potato mountain. People bring real potatoes to the summit.
This hike is posted with another Meet Up group.
