Beyond the Bridge to nowhere, Iron fork to Ross Gulch and mines.

Beyond the Bridge to nowhere, Iron fork to Ross Gulch and mines.

Details

PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU SIGN ON TO THIS HIKE!

description:

Iron Fork drains about 1.5 miles upstream from the Bridge to nowhere. It has a tributary, called Ross Gulch, which I have not seen yet but contains a waterfall and supposedly a mine, the Short and Ross. The gulch is located Approx .75 miles from Iron Forks confluence with the East Fork. I have been up Iron Fork, but only about .25 miles, and have beeen wanting to go further, so this hike will be exploratory from that point.

This hike will be a no frills bridge to nowhere hike, fasttracking along the trail to the bridge and narrows, so please dont sign up if you think this is a bridge hike. The goal of this hike is to make it to Iron Fork as quick as possible, not to play. Iron Fork itself is fairly simple at the begining, but tends to get rougher. If you sign up, please know that this may be an all day affair, meaning dont make plans.

Stats:

Approx 2000' gain

Mileage: approx 14+

Difficulty:

easy to the bridge and through the narrows, exploratory and cross country to the gulch, possibly some swimming.

The approach is the basic bridge hike, However, we will get wet on this hike, when I say

fasttrack to the bridge and through the narrows, I have no intention of waiting for creekhoppers.
