In this meeting, we explore Chaucer’s the Canterbury Tales to understand the traditions and storytelling techniques that influenced Shakespeare’s plays. Although written two centuries before Shakespeare, Chaucer’s characters, humour, social criticism, and language shaped the literary culture that Shakespeare inherited and transformed.
