Sunday Dharma Gathering: "Awakening and Technology: Friends or Enemies?"
Details
We warmly invite you to join us for a Sunday Dharma Gathering. All are welcome!
Dharma Gatherings are community events offering a space for both newcomers and experienced practitioners to connect and learn. These gatherings feature meditation instruction and practice, a short talk by guest teachers and open discussion followed by refreshments and socializing.
This Sunday’s topic is "Awakening and Technology: Friends or Enemies?" with Bill Auerbach:
At the center of the Buddhist teachings is the idea that all people, whatever their background, have the ability to free themselves from neurosis and become fully realized buddhas. Rather than accept this idea uncritically, we can ask the question, if human beings possess basic goodness, why then are people so unhappy? And why do we harm one another? In this Dharma talk we will have a conversation about how digital communication communication can increase unhappiness by disrupting attention and increasing our suspicion of one another. We will also talk about ways that we can bring mindfulness to our digital lives.
Registration is suggested but not required — just come by!
