This five-week course with Joe Mauricio will offer a practical exploration of how meditation can help to bring sanity and balance to our lives despite turmoil we may be experiencing. Registration is required to receive the zoom link.

Course dates: May 25th, June 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th

Each class will include meditation instruction and practice, short talks on key themes, and discussion on how to sustain practice in challenging times. We will ground ourselves with Buddhist fundamentals from the Hinayana path, with its focus on freedom from suffering. And, we will introduce elements of the Mahayana path – the notion of bodhicitta or awakened heart, the expanded vision of liberating all beings, and the practices of loving-kindness, which can support us in nonviolent activism and engaged compassion.

Core challenges we will explore include how to stay connected to beauty and kindness in a world embroiled in suffering and chaos, and remain resilient and grounded in difficult times. Can we protect our sanity without shutting down to the world? The teachings can help us to remain engaged in our lives without becoming overwhelmed.

This course is open to anyone with any level of meditation experience. It may be helpful if you are a caregiver, an activist, a parent or student, or anyone concerned with their sanity and their world.

If you have a human heart, you are well qualified.
