Shanty Singing upstairs room at the William Morris Pub
The William Morris Pub, 20 Watermill Way, London, GBBelow is a video of us on YouTube, singing in the upstairs room in the William Morris pub, with a good participating audience.
https://youtu.be/8eL3hJG2sN4
This event will consist of three lively forty minute sets, mainly of well known Shanty Songs, with typed chorus sheets handed out to all guests. There is an exit door from this room which leads to a large first floor veranda, overlooking the River Wandle, where guests may sit to cool off and listen to the river, with the shanty singing in the background
In this upstairs room only Shanty fans will be invited, so there will be no annoyingly loud conversations from those who see live singing as background music to their shouted conversations
Happy Hour, when house drinks are half price, is from 6pm to 7pm
It's an Edwardian bar in picturesque Merton Abbey Mills, which is ten minutes walk from Colliers Wood tube station.
Or you can catch a 57, 131 or 219 bus from Wimbledon station or Tooting Broadway station to Merton Abbey Mills bus stop, and these buses run every two or three minutes.
We get a lively crowd, nearly all of whom join in singing the choruses.
Good quality hot food is available which is cooked on the premises.
Towards the end of the evening we take a few requests from audience members, who are invited on stage to sing the song with us, but only if they want to.
We usually here on the first Thursday of the month, and have been singing here for two and a half years, and it don't seem a day too long
Newcomers and experienced shanty singers are equally welcome. It's easy to join in singing the choruses, especially after we've lent you a chorus song book and you've had a few drinks.

Shanty Singing on the Golden Hinde ship- London Bridge
The Golden Hinde, 1 & 2 Pickfords Wharf, Clink Street, London SE1 9DG, London, GBThe Golden Hinde was the first English Ship to sail around the world, captained by Sir Francs Drake in the Elizabethan era. Besides hearing us, and joining in singing the choruses, you can also explore the ship. And for your further convenience, there is an on board bar with wine and beer at pub prices, and a flushing WC or two. We have always had top class guests who were lively and all of whom joined in singing the choruses,
Below is also a link to a couple of videos on YouTube of us singing in this the ship, if you want to take a look and have a listen. The ship is currently in dry dock undergoing hull maintenance, and you can reach it by going to London Bridge Underground station, and from there it's five minute walk walk through Borough Market.
And, by the way, when it was first built, this ship sailed from Devon to San Francisco, and from there onto Japan, where is starred in the original film production of Shogun
