✨ For Black women who shine individually, but know we glow even brighter together.
My Black Sistas, have you ever found out about a conference or event, got excited, but then realized in your circle of friends that you don't have anyone to go with, so you decided not to go? Or maybe you went, but wished you had another Sista(s) to share your excitement and insights with while you're there? 🎤 Well, I have - many times.
Shared Light will coordinate private meetups to happen while Sistas are at different events and conferences. This may be a private lunch or dinner, meeting up in a hotel suite or in the lobby of a hotel, at a nearby coffee shop, etc.
How Shared Light will operate:
1) Quarterly, at least one event or conference will be selected and added to the Shared Light Meetup.com calendar.
2) If interested, you will RSVP to the event on the Shared Light Meetup.com calendar so we all know who is interested/plans to attend. Optional: At this point, you can register for the actual event or conference and arrange your lodging and travel or wait until after the first virtual meetup about the event.
NOTE: A number of virtual meetups will happen ahead of any conference or event we add to the Shared Light Meetup.com calendar. These virtual meetups will allow Sistas to get acquainted, discuss details about where/when Sistas will meetup once there, ask questions, etc.
3) Once you're ready, you will register for the actual event or conference on their website and arrange your lodging and transportation. Shared Light does not coordinate lodging and transportation to or from events or conferences. Shared Light will coordinate private, in-person meetups (sometimes virtual) once we're at the event or conference.
*When possible, Shared Light may assist with connecting Sistas who want a roommate or want to carpool.
4) The private Shared Light meetups that will happen at the events and conferences will be posted on the Shared Light's Meetup.com calendar. You will RSVP to these so that we can plan to meet in spaces that can accommodate our group size.
Important Note: While at these events and conferences, you don’t have to stick together all day or at all — it’s more about knowing you'll have Sistas between sessions, at lunch, or after the day's done to share what really moved you, challenged you, or lit that fire inside. The goal is to link up while the energy’s still high and the insights are fresh.
Full Disclosure:
1. This group is the start of a business concept by the Organizer, Erica, focused on connecting Black women. Within the first year (by June 2026), as the group develops and in order to provide more value to Sistas, a fee will be required.
2. Once social media pages have been set up for Shared Light, clips of meetups and discussions will be posted on those channels. Joining Shared Light serves as acknowledgement and consent.
3. For the safety of all Sistas, additional steps will be needed to authenticate who you are.
