Details
Dear All,
Our latest meet-up of 2016 is scheduled! SQL MVP David Barbarin will deliver a session on 'Using Remote Blob Storage with SQL Server availability groups'.
Then we have SharePoint MVP Jamie McAllister to talk about SharePoint 2016 - The Best Yet.
The meetup will take place on Tuesday the 28th of June. This meet-up is open to anyone who is interested in SharePoint in any capacity.
We will start at about 18:30, in the Salle Aung San Suu Kyi Room function room inside the Salles de la Maison des Associations - 15, Rue des Savoises - 1205 Genève (the northern edge of Plainpalais).
To add a little extra spice to the proceedings, local solution providers Serial SA have sponsored the event. This means our event costs have been met, and even better I can offer you some proper hospitality at the meeting. (A little food and drink is always welcome after a day at work!)
Many thanks to Serial SA - A leading Swiss IT services company specializing in SharePoint and Microsoft technologies. (http://www.serial.ch)

Session 1 (David Barbarin);
Storing a large amount of big documents, images or videos into SharePoint libraries may have a huge impact on your SharePoint environment. In this case, the Microsoft recommendation is to implement Remote Blob Storage as add-on to your SharePoint farm in commodity storage solutions instead of directly on the main database server. But nowadays, a lot of SharePoint infrastructures become highly available and this especially true for the database component. Therefore it is common to see SharePoint farms that run on the top of SQL Server availability groups. In this session, we will get an overview of considerations about RBS and SQL Server availability group feature as well as the interactions we should have with the SharePoint administrators in terms of disaster recovery plan, monitoring and performance.
Session 2 (Jamie McAllister);
The latest version of SharePoint has been described as a "Foundational Release" and with its new capabilities supporting mobility, hybrid cloud and compliance it is a game changer. In this session we'll cut through the marketing hype and take a real world look at where we are, what SharePoint 2016 gives us, and how we might approach it.
