Spring Fling with Spirit Hiking at Wilcox Park!🌹

Dan and I will once again square off with our hiking arch enemy Jeff and his Minions from Spirit Hiking at our annual hike/barbeque/Tug-O-War event. Our two hiking groups have been battling for victory for the last four years. Jeff and his lackey's from Spirit Hiking have tasted victory twice and so has Shawangunk Hikers. This year will be the the ultimate tie breaker and we will see which group will be triumphant. I'm pretty sure it will be us though. 😉

Wilcox Memorial Park offers beautiful hiking trails and boasts scenic overlooks of Stissing Mountain and the Catskills. After the hike we will we enjoy a barbecue and the greatly anticipated tug of war event. You can choose to participate in two ways, tugging or cheering us to victory! Please plan on bringing some type of tasty treat/beverage to share. Don't forget a chair. No need to sign up with both groups we will pick teams on the spot! Bathrooms on site.

We are a social group that values laughter, good conversation, and comradery. That being said, our participants need to be active people who hike on a regular basis. Please be able to keep up at a moderate 1.8- 2.3 mph pace. Please bring maps, wear hiking boots, first aid supplies, snacks and lots of water.
