Hike Smiley Carriageway Trail in Minnewaska and Visit Rough Cut Brewery

Let's enjoy a lovely hike in which we will hike from the Berme Road Park, via Smiley Carriageway Trail, to the top of the mountain where we will hit the junction of the High Point and Berrypicker Trails. The Smiley Carriage Trail is located within Minnewaska State Park Preserve. Up top we will be rewarded with stunning views of the Hudson Valley. We will descend on the trail that we ascended. At times we will hike along a stream and pass a small waterfall. This is a strenuous hike over rough terrain so plan accordingly. This is a great workout! You will be immediately challenged by a long gradual ascent of about three miles on an old carriage trail and then what feels and looks like washed out riverbed. You will need to be in decent cardio shape and be relatively fit to attempt this hike. We will meet at 12 Berme Park Road at the upper parking level. Parking is free.

We are a social group that values laughter, good conversation, and comradery. That being said, our participants need to be active people who hike on a regular basis. Please be able to hike at a relaxed to moderate 1.8 - 2.0 mph pace. Please bring maps, wear hiking boots, first aid supplies, snacks and lots of water. IF YOU HAVE A NEED FOR SPEED THIS IS NOT THE HIKE FOR YOU.
