Elevation gain is @580 feet. This hike will include a gradual climb to the viewpoint.

Our good friend and hiking companion Donna Backus is in town and we are looking forward to seeing her on the hike! This hike is located in Dover, NY. Dover Stone Preserve is a nature preserve whose highlight is a stunning rock formation and waterfall in a cave. Dover Stone Church's highlight is a metamorphic rock cavern in the shape of a church’s cathedral window with a cascading waterfall through the cave’s interior. This will be @4 mile moderately difficult hike. You should be an active person in good cardio shape to be able to climb the hill up to the viewpoint. If you do not want to hike to the viewpoint you can visit the waterfall and meet us at the winery. We will park in the Dover Elementary School parking lot located at the corner of Route 22 & School Street. If you cannot make the hike and want to join us at the winery that’s fine too! We usually arrive at the winery @1:00pm.

After the hike we will take a beautiful scenic drive to Millbrook Vineyards & Winery in Millbrook, NY. Enjoy beautiful Catskills views while drinking exquisite wine. The winery has picnic tables where we can relax and eat our lunch. The winery allows patrons to bring in their own food so please feel free to bring a picnic lunch and sone to share if so inclined.
A food truck option is available as well. No outside drinks are allowed and patrons can no longer bring in chairs. Millbrook Winery is located at 26 Wing Rd., Millbrook, NY, 12545. The winery is approximately a 20-minute country drive from the hike.
