She Serves NW Members Meet-up
Details
Hi ladies! 💗✨
For our meet-up on Monday, we are going to be working on a really special handmade backdrop project for the fashion show.
Originally, we were hoping to have our backdrop banners printed, but All City Print is no longer able to donate those for the event — which I completely understand. I am still so grateful that they are helping us with the volunteer shirts! So instead of printed banners, we are going to come together and create something even more meaningful as a community.
The idea is to make two long canvas backdrop banners for the runway wall. They will have pink, green, orange, cream, and lace ribbons hanging down, twinkle lights across the top, and heart cutouts with messages that say “I serve because…” along with each person’s reason why they serve.
At the meet-up, we will have a creative work station where members, models, designers, volunteers, and supporters can write their “I serve because…” messages on the hearts. These hearts will then be added to the banners and displayed behind the runway at the event.
The middle of each banner will have a rectangle cloth piece clipped on that says:
She Serves YWCA on the Runway
I already have a lot of the supplies, including long canvas, dowels, and twinkle lights. What we could use help with is ribbons in our color palette — pinks, orange/coral, sage green, cream, and cream lace — and help with screen printing or ironing on the middle cloth pieces.
Monday’s meet-up will be a mix of connection, final event planning, and hands-on creating. We’ll go over updates for the fashion show, talk through what still needs to be done, and then spend time working on the backdrop pieces together.
This is going to be such a beautiful way to show what She Serves is all about: women coming together, using what we have, creating something with heart, and serving our community. đź’—
If you’re able to bring a ribbon or two in the color palette, that would be amazing — but please still come even if you can’t bring anything. Your presence and your “why” are the most important part.
