Talking is Thinking: The Art of Journalling and Appreciative Enquiry
As the New Year begins, it’s natural to reflect on your life: How far you’ve come and where you are going.
“The unexamined life is not worth living” said Socrates, and this drive has compelled psychoanalysts and philosophers to contemplate life and its meaning for millennia.
Journalling turns your personal call - to excavate meaning and uncover patterns in your living - into a habitual practice.
A writing practice may reveal to you continuities in your life, allow a place to vent and offload, uncover dissonance between competing values and behaviours, pose and seed thoughtful contemplation and/or help you to direct your intentions for the grand arc of your life with more precision.
In our small group discussion we will share any experience we currently have with this practice, or contemplate finding a new place for written reflection in our life. Perhaps you’ll be inspired with new resolve to journal in support of your personal development and growth in 2026.
Having a framework to ground your journalling practice gives you a solid place to start and seeds something to build and compound on.
Powerful questions can create all kinds of shifts in our perception and the stories we are telling ourselves.
To this end, as always, we’ll include a creative exercise in the programme. These always seem to produce powerful insights for the rest of the group, and provide an opportunity to share support with other members.
The purpose of this group is for professional women who are called to explore their personal development at this time, to come together in the spirit of sisterhood and support, with guidance and facilitation from an ICF accredited Executive Life Coach.
You might like to make a note of any books, podcasts or other resources you have found personally helpful which you would like to share with the group.
She Shines is an in-person women's coaching group in East Nashville with a focus on personal development for women. We will come together monthly to reflect on themes like personal identity, values and strengths, boundaries, personal story, archetypes, limiting patterns and beliefs, conflict and negotiation in personal relationships, negative self talk and authentic connection and belonging.
There will be the space and time to get to know each other and offer mutual support and sharing as we navigate integrating and balancing the feminine and masculine roles we play in our home-lives and work-lives. This is a small group for women to awaken and develop their personal resilience, confidence and self-trust.
