Join us at The Verge!
A lightning talk is a short ~5-10 minute talk over anything that you find interesting! Talk topics can range over a personal project, a new technology, or just something that makes you think "hey, I bet other people might like to know about this thing." It's a great way for you as an attendee (and speaker!) to learn about a lot of new things that you didn't know about before.
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided!
This month's speakers:
Elizabeth McHughes - "Engineering Elasticity: Virtualization in Cloud Computing"
Elizabeth McHughes is a software developer with five years of experience building enterprise applications for Oklahoma state agencies using .NET, Angular, SQL, and Azure. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Computer Science and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Central Oklahoma. Her current graduate coursework in Cyber Infrastructure and Cloud Computing explores practical cloud automation strategies, including dynamically scaling virtual machine CPUs based on usage to improve performance and cost efficiency.
Farai Jordan - "How to Get a Job When There are No Jobs"
Farai traded the classroom for the IDE, transforming a simple goal of career change into a thriving life in software development. Along the way, she discovered more than just a new skill set—she found a community that fueled her growth and a passion for engineering that defines her career today.
Kimberly Collins - "Many-to-Many Database Relationships"
Kimberly Collins is a software engineer with 20 years of experience building and maintaining databases and .NET applications. She specializes in database design and modernizing legacy systems, working closely with small organizations to deliver practical improvements and quick wins. An independent consultant since 2016, Kimberly is also active in the local tech community through mentoring and training.
