Riber, Dethick, Lea and High Tor Circular

Full description:
From Costa Coffee, we'll walk up a pretty steep hill and go past the Grade II Listed Riber Castle. We then continue through Riber and Dethick Villages and have a potential lunch stop at Lea Village Green.

Then it'll be a walk along the edge of Lea Gardens, through John Smedleys Mills, Bow wood, Starkholmes village and up to High Tor where we should catch amazing views of the Derwent Valley. Finally it'll be a downhill walk back to Matlock for a drink!

Please note, this will be a muddy or boggy walk (requiring sturdy walking boots).

Public transport or car sharing options:
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Catch X17 bus to Matlock Town Centre, departing Sheffield Interchange stand D4 at 8:39. Returning buses every hour from Matlock Bus Station Stand 1 at 15:15, 16:15, 17:15 and 18:15.

PARKING: There are some free on the road parking spaces and pay and display car parks in Matlock Town Centre. Please arrange car shares through the comments on Meetup.

Sign-up for this walk opens 5 days before the event. If you sign up and can no longer make it, please be respectful of others and remove yourself from the event so that others can take your place. We request you do this ***NO LATER THAN 6pm*** the night before the walk.

Sheffield 20’s and 30’s Walking Group is part of the Ramblers, a registered charity. All of our leaders are volunteers.
