Full description:
In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the official mapping of the pennine way, the Old Nags Head are hosting a beer festival, with 30 different traditional ales and ciders, as well as live music, games and charity fundraising.

To help us appreciate this anniversary (and justify the debauchery) we will be doing a hike along the pennine way and up onto Kinder Scout before we head to the pub.

We will walk along the pennine way, heading up Jacobs Ladder and coming back along the edge of the Kinder Scout Plateau, we will descend back into Edale via Grindslow Knoll. Afterwards we will head to the pub where people can stay as long as they want and enjoy the festivities (I expect some of us will stay for a while).

Please bring walking boots and warm clothing/waterproofs. This walk is fairly exposed and the path can be a bit challenging in places, we may even inadvertently stumble into a bog!

Public transport or car sharing options:
There are 2 reasons I would not recommend driving. 1. Driving to a beer festival is silly. 2. It is incredibly hard to park in Edale on any weekend, yet alone one where there are events on in the village. I would strongly recommend you get the 10.14 train from Sheffield. Trains back to Sheffield are at 30 minutes past the hour every hour. A day return is £11.50 (without a railcard).

Be prepared:
Please remember to dress appropriately for the time of year, with enough layers, sun protection if required, a waterproof, and food and water. Further information on what to bring can be found on our website here: https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/be-prepared

Sign-up:
Sign-up for this walk opens 5 days before the event. If you sign up and can no longer make it, please be respectful of others and remove yourself from the event so that others can take your place. We request you do this ***NO LATER THAN 6pm*** the night before the walk.

Please note:
Sheffield 20’s and 30’s Walking Group is part of the Ramblers, a registered charity. All of our leaders are volunteers. Everyone is welcome to join us on our walks, there is no need to contact us in advance, and as long as you have a place on our Meetup booking system you can just show up. Non-members can come on up to 3 walks before joining the group. After 3 walks, we require you to sign up as a Ramblers member for insurance purposes. More information about the group can be found at https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/faqs.
