***To participate in this walk a working headtorch is mandatory***
Join us on the final stage of a 3-part walk along the Steel Cotton Rail Trail from Hope to back towards Sheffield, collecting walkers along the way in true Pied Piper style. This part begins at Grindleford Station Cafe where the walkers from the earlier parts will be gathered for refreshments. Following the Steel Cotton Rail Trail into Sheffield we plan to finish at Dore and Totley Station where there are a number of good options for food and drink.
Everyone joining us on Part 1 and 2 of this walk are automatically invited to stay for Part 3 (without signing up again).

Pied Piper-related props and fancy dress encouraged! Please make sure to bring waterproofs and wear sensible shoes. It can get very muddy in the valley and the weather is particularly changeable at this time of year!

If you are joining us for Part 3 please bring a working headtorch as there is a chance we may be walking shortly after sunset!

See https://peakdistrictbytrain.org/the-steel-cotton-rail-trail/ for more route information on the route.

Public transport or car sharing options:

13:14 to Manchester Piccadilly calls at Dore & Totley at 13:21 and arrives in Grindleford at 13:28

Be prepared:

Please remember to dress appropriately for the time of year, with enough layers, sun protection if required, a waterproof, as well as food and water. Further information on what to bring can be found on our website here: https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/be-prepared

Sign-up:

Sign-up for this walk opens 5 days before the event. If you sign up and can no longer make it, please be respectful of others and remove yourself from the event so that others can take your place. We request you do this ***NO LATER THAN 6pm*** the night before the walk.

Please note:

Sheffield 20’s and 30’s Walking Group is part of the Ramblers, a registered charity. All of our leaders are volunteers. Everyone is welcome to join us on our walks, there is no need to contact us in advance, and as long as you have a place on our Meetup booking system you can just show up. Non-members can come on up to 3 walks before joining the group. After 3 walks, we require you to sign up as a Ramblers member for insurance purposes. More information about the group can be found at https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/faqs.
