Full description:
This route takes us on a classic circuit around Curbar Edge, mixing open moorland, woodland trails, and some of the best views in the Peak District.

We’ll start from The Fox House, heading into the Longshaw Estate and following the trails through its woodland and fields. From there, we make our way up to the wide, open ridge of White Edge, where the views stretch across the Derwent Valley and beyond.

Continuing along the ridge, we join Curbar Edge, a dramatic stretch of gritstone cliffs that runs for several kilometres. We’ll follow the edge around its exposed face, taking in panoramic views of Froggatt and Baslow below.

The path then leads past a stone circle and onwards towards Hay Wood, where we drop down to the river before climbing back through the trees to rejoin the higher ground. From there, we loop back through the Longshaw Estate, emerging near the top of Padley Gorge.

We’ll follow the river upstream through the gorge before turning uphill for the final climb back to Fox House — a well-earned pint, wine or water to a beautiful circuit packed with variety, views, and fresh air.

The 272 bus departs Sheffield Interchange at 09:54 and arrives at 10:16.
There are plenty of local parking opportunities including Fox House Car Park, Longshaw Estate Car Park and some roadside parking. Please arrange car sharing in the Meetup Comments.

Sign-up for this walk opens 5 days before the event. If you sign up and can no longer make it, please be respectful of others and remove yourself from the event so that others can take your place. We request you do this ***NO LATER THAN 6pm*** the night before the walk.
