Hiking along Baslow, Froggatt and Curbar Edges

Details

Route: Baslow Edge, Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge

Meet at: Curbar Gap car park, Clodhall Lane, just East of Curbar, postcode S32 3YR, OS map reference SK261747. As an environmentally conscious group, we actively encourage car sharing. Further details of car sharing arrangements from Sheffield and elsewhere will appear in the comments section nearer the time.

This exciting circular hike will give us the chance to explore the entire length of no fewer than three of the famous Peak District gritstone edges with ample opportunity to play about on rock along the way. There will also be plenty dramatic positions, outstanding views and rolling countryside to enjoy. We should also hopefully see some rutting deer. We certainly did on the same outing this time last year.

The full day will include a hike along the cliff faces of Baslow Edge (pictured above) followed by visits to the famous Eagle Stone and Wellington Monument then a jaunt down the bridleway to the Gardoms crossroads before a stride out over moorland, passing along White Edge to Totley Moss followed by an about turn to pass below White Edge Moor then on to the spectacular Froggatt Edge which leads eventually to the equally impressive Curbar Edge which we will follow all the way back to the car park.

Photos of some of our previous outings to Baslow, Froggatt and Curbar Edges can be seen here.
