Friday Night Xmas Hike: Chee Dale Stepping Stones and the Monsal Trail
Details
A journey into the spectacular gorge of Chee Dale by night, taking in the famous stepping stones, breathtaking limestone rock architecture, and the eerie Victorian railway tunnels of the Monsal Trail.
The route will take us from Miller’s Dale Station, along the River Wye, through woodland, towards Chee Dale gorge, and two sets of stepping stones passing through the stream under steep rock walls. We then climb up to the Monsal Trail, a repurposed railway line that takes us through a series of tunnels (and past a famous abseil spot) back towards Miller’s Dale, and a well earned drink at the Angler’s Rest pub.
Myself and Emily are going to bring some mulled wine and mince pies to share - feel free to bring along any festive drinks and snacks for everyone to enjoy 😊
Distance: 4.5 miles
Height gained: 200m
What to bring: HEADTORCH, warm clothes, drinks and snacks, walking boots/shoes.
As alway, if everyone could contribute £2 towards the running of the Meetup costs, that would be great thanks.
