Scarborough to Filey coastal walk - Linear (14.2 miles)
Details
This stunning coastal walk takes place along the East Yorkshire coastline and follows a linear route from Scarborough to Filey.
We begin in Scarborough town centre, heading slightly north to pass through Peasholm Park, a peaceful spot with a distinctive oriental feel. From here, we continue to Scarborough North Bay, walking around Marine Drive, where weโll pause briefly to enjoy the views and keep an eye out for dolphins ๐ฌ.
Next, we pass through Scarborough South Bay, which is usually livelier and bustling with visitors. This marks the start of the more challenging section of the walk, as we climb a steep ascent to join the Cleveland Way.
Once at the top, the effort is rewarded with around 7 miles of mostly flat walking along dramatic clifftops, offering spectacular sea views and passing a variety of coastal features.
As we approach Filey, weโll have the chance to see Filey Brigg, a unique and fascinating coastal formation. The walk finishes with a short final ascent to Filey train station, where our journey comes to an end.
