Dr. Nasser Kanani finished his studies of materials science and solid state physics at the Technical University of Berlin and received the venia legendi, the highest academic qualification in electrochemistry from the same University. He worked as a senior scientist at MIT and as guest professor at the University of Florida in Gainesville and Sakarya University in Turkey.
Prof. Kanani has authored 200 scientific papers and written six textbooks on topics related to
electroplating and materials science in German and in English. He was honored for his scientific achievements. His name has been mentioned in “Kürschner’s Calendar of German Scholars” since 1985 and was mentioned in 2011 in the “First Calendar of European
Scholars.”
He was also awarded the “Multicultural Prize for Sophisticated Scientific and Cultural Achievements of Berlin” in 2009 and the “International Award for Excellence in Culture,
Literature and Art” of the AIA in 2012.
On the occasion of the publication of his book “Hafiz and his poetry” and his lecture on May 12th, 2017, at Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, he was presented a certificate of appreciation
by the Premier of Ontario as well as by the Minister of Research, Innovation and Science.
Since 2008, every two years the “Prof. Kanani Prize” is awarded to three young Iranian scientists for achieving remarkable results in the field of electroplating and environment protection.
