SheSails Charter - Solent Evening Sail August 5th 2022

An opportunity to be part of a group chartering a yacht for a fun and sociable evening sail. No previous sailing experience is necessary, all levels welcome.

If the Cowes Fireworks are operating this year and the weather is fair, this event will be an extended evening sail with a much later finish (probably 11.30pm). It will involve a sail over to Cowes where we will anchor to watch the fireworks before returning to Gosport.

If the Cowes fireworks are not on or the weather is not favourable this will operate as a normal evening sail. You join the boat at 6pm and we aim to leave the marina following a safety briefing no later than 6.30pm, returning by approx 9.00pm, depart by 10pm. If Covid restrictions allow, on return to the marina we will prepare a light evening meal (such as a chilli) and a drink.

Please note that this is a yacht charter event and not a sailing school organised activity. Please read the T&Cs carefully to ensure you understand the implications of this before confirming your interest.

You will be given a chance to get involved in different crew tasks, including helming if you want to, or can just sit back and enjoy being on the water. They will be social relaxed circular sails along the coastline or out to the Solent Forts and back, intended to make the most of the lighter evenings. Come on your own or with a friend, you will find everyone is very welcoming.

The skipper will usually be an experienced SheSails member with RYA Day Skipper qualification or above, though occasionally may be an RYA instructor. There will be between 6 and 8 people on the boat, with the boat size dependent on the number booking but likely to be 35-40ft (10.6-12m).

Payment of £45 upfront is required for this event. When you RSVP please ensure you make the payment and complete the form at the same time. Your booking is only confirmed once both the payment and form have been received.

Full joining details and guidance on what to bring/wear/expect etc will be provided once you have paid, but if you are new to sailing and have any questions please do message the organiser before or after booking.

Please take note of our strict cancellation policy. We are a non profit group and the charter will only take place if we have enough people to cover our costs. If we cannot cover our costs or the event is cancelled by SheSails for any reason, you will be refunded or can have a credit for use against a future event. In ALL other circumstances no refund will be given unless your place can be filled by another SheSails member. We do operate a waiting list, and will try to find a replacement, but this is not guaranteed.
