The book swaps have been popular, so let's do it again! Bring one book you love (used or new) and leave with someone else’s favorite read. We use the white elephant format, where books can be “stolen” after selection to keep things interesting. Books will be permanently swapped, so choose one you’re ready to pass on. Any genre is welcome.

Oldspeak in Garden City is a cozy “book-beer bar” where literature meets libations—pairing a curated indie selection with craft beers from Alliteration Ales and community-driven events in a warm, book-lined setting. In addition to craft beer, they offer mocktails, coffee drinks, and light bites, so there’s something for everyone.

We’ll cover how investing works at a high level, including ETFs vs. individual stocks, dividends and reinvestment, basic order types (market vs. limit), and how people think about long-term growth. I’ll bring a simple, easy-to-follow handout to guide the conversation—no prior knowledge needed.

More experienced investors are welcome to join and share what’s worked for them, lessons learned, and practical tips. This is a casual, discussion-based meetup over coffee—come with questions, curiosity, or just an interest in learning something new.

Note: To keep things approachable, we won’t be covering retirement accounts (IRA, Roth IRA, 401k) or more advanced strategies like options or covered calls.
