Join us for a relaxed walk around Old Shinagawa, where we’ll explore the history, local streets, and traditional culture of this fascinating neighborhood while meeting new people and enjoying conversations in English!

Shinagawa was once an important post town along the old Tokaido road, which connected Edo (present-day Tokyo) with Kyoto. Today, traces of its history can still be found in the neighborhood.

We’ll explore several spots around Old Shinagawa, including:

• Tsuchikura Sagami Ruins: Discover a place connected to the turbulent final years of the Edo period
• Shinagawaura Boat Basin: Learn about the area’s traditional fishing and waterfront life
• Kitashinagawa Shopping Street: Explore the local neighborhood and its connection to the old Tokaido road
• Shinagawa Shrine: Discover Japanese shrine culture and traditions

This event is a mix of a casual walking tour and a social meetup. I’ll share some stories about Shinagawa as I explore my interest in becoming a tour guide, and I’d love to hear your thoughts, questions, and perspectives along the way!

You don’t need to be a history expert or a native English speaker. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to connect with others.
