About us
Shogi Socials and Strategic Board Fun is a low-pressure group for anyone interested in playing Japanese chess, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced player. Our goal is simply to build a local community where we can share the game, learn from one another, and enjoy some good conversation over the board. We meet regularly to play, go over tactics, and occasionally branch out into other strategy games if the mood strikes.
We aim to keep our gatherings friendly and accessible, so please do not be intimidated if you are still learning how the pieces move. We are happy to teach newcomers the basics, and there is always plenty of room for seasoned players to find a challenging match. If you have been looking for a place to practice your game or just want to spend an afternoon with like-minded people, we would love to have you join us at our next session.
