Legacy Walk: Finding Meaning in Modern Life

Hello everyone,

In this meetup, we will be visiting the Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery (横浜外国人墓地) and Harbor View Park (港の見える丘公園). While visiting a cemetery might seem unusual for a meetup event, there is a reason behind this choice, so I kindly ask for your understanding.
The Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery is the final resting place for foreigners who, centuries ago, played a significant role in Japan's modernization. I believe this serene location offers a valuable opportunity for personal reflection. In today’s fast-paced business world, we rarely take the time to pause and consider our own priorities and values.
For foreigners, this visit provides a chance to connect with those who arrived in Japan long ago, while also offering a moment to reflect on your own experiences and life in this country.
For Japanese attendees, this is an opportunity to express gratitude for those who contributed to our nation’s modernization and economic growth on the global stage.
In this place, where time seems to stand still, we have the opportunity to slow down and take a moment for ourselves.
We all need to pause and slow down.

*I have not made any advanced restaurant reservations.

*Update:
At the start of the event, I will distribute handouts to all attendees featuring quotes from famous figures. Please choose the one that resonates most with you and reflect on its meaning in relation to life.
After the event, we will gather at a nearby café or restaurant to discuss your chosen quote and share your thoughts with the group.

今回のMeetupでは横浜の静けさを感じられる地区を歩きます。横浜の中にある「非日常」を体験してみませんか？
前回このイベントを開催した際は、公開時間外で、入ることが事が出来なかったので、今回は公開時間内に設定しました。
今回のイベントでは、横浜外国人墓地、港の見える丘公園を歩きます。
恐らく、お昼は近くのカフェ、またはレストランに入ることになると思いますが、特に予約などはしていないので、行き当たりばったりになると思います。
今回訪れる場所の中で、横浜外国人墓地には幕末から明治維新の時代の日本の発展に寄与して下さった外国人（日本人含む）の方々のお墓があり、それ以降の時代の横浜の発展に寄与された方々も永眠している場所となります。

みなとみらいを中心とした都会の謙遜から離れ、時間が緩やかに流れる地区を歩きましょう。
また、今日の忙しいビジネスの世界では、人生の優先事項や価値観について考える時間はあまり無いと思います。
この場所を訪れることで、一度立ち止まり、「生きる」とは何かを再確認できるのではないかと思います。
今回訪れる横浜外国人墓地と港の見える丘公園では、港町の海風を感じられる場所となりますので、是非一緒に横浜の静かな一角を歩きませんか？

その中から好きな言葉を一つ選んでいただきます。
引用集は「生きる」とは何かを考えさせるものを僕の方でいくつかピックアップしました。
イベント後に近くのカフェまたはレストランへ行き、何故その言葉を選んだのかをグループの皆さんと英語または日本語でシェアして頂きます。
