Tour of Balcones Materials Recovery Facility

3mile walk from Atlantic Terminal Mall to tour Balcones Material Recovery Facility in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. On our way to the Recycling center, we'll stop at Industry City for a bathroom/snack break and to sign waivers- bring your own or purchase at one of the many eateries. The walk is capped by the facility and priority will be given to those previously waitlisted for this walk. If you've attended before, please allow other members to visit.
Join us for an informative tour of the largest recycling facility in the country to see firsthand the recovery process of our city’s metal, glass, and plastic. Learn the answer to the question “Do I take the cap off the bottle before tossing it into the recycle bin?”.

Our tour is scheduled for 2 pm and begins with an overview at the Education Center, followed by a tour of the operation. You are required to sign a liability release to attend the tour.
We’ll finish our tour at 3:30 pm and walk a few blocks to the nearby D-N-R trains at 36th Street and 4th Avenue.

No guests allowed, only Shorewalkers members please.
MEET: 11:45 am in public space outside the entrance to Target (Atlantic Avenue and Fort Greene Place). Restrooms available inside on the Second Floor by the Starbucks. We will leave promptly at 12:00 pm and walk along Fifth Avenue. I will provide copies of the liability release for everyone to sign.
