We'll have a guided tour of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, then enjoy an 8-mile walk through Flushing Meadows–Corona Park to the cemetery where Mr. Armstrong is buried and loop back to Flushing Main Street.
Meet at the Corner of Roosevelt Ave and 111th Street, outside CTown Supermarket (111 Street Station on the 7 train)
We’ll walk together from the subway station to the museum (a short 10-minute walk).
Louis Armstrong House and Museum
Step inside the home where Louis and Lucille Armstrong lived from 1943 to 1971. Preserved just as they left it, the house offers a rare, personal look into the life of this jazz icon.
- Tour start: 12:30pm
- Duration: approx 1 hours
- Limited group size: 3 groups of 14 people each (max. 42 participants in total) Each group of 14 will embark on the tour 15 mins. apart. We will wait for the entire group to finish before we leave the house to continue our walk. While waiting, participants will be able to explore the museum which is across the street from the house.
- Admission: 12$ per person (group rate, which is lower than a senior rate!)
👉 Advance payment is not required, but please only sign up if you truly intend to join the tour and are comfortable with the $12 admission fee. This helps us keep our group reservations fair and ensures that everyone who wants to attend has a chance.
Walk to Flushing Cemetery
After the house tour and museum visit, we’ll continue with a 4–5-mile walk through Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Kissena Park, and surrounding greenways to Flushing Cemetery, where we’ll visit Louis Armstrong’s grave.
We will then walk back approx 3 miles to Flushing Main Street, where this walk ends.
Please bring water and snacks. We will stop for a late lunch/ snack in Flushing Meadows Park. Food available for purchase.
Fairly moderate walking pace.
Thanks to Ivan and Sigrid who have done this walk before.
