We will meet in Manhattan and walk across the Queensboro (59th Street/Koch) bridge. From the Queens shoreline, we will see Roosevelt Island and talk a bit about its history, as well as the Ravenswood area of Queens. We will walk across the bridge to Roosevelt Island and walk around the island (which is 2 miles long) seeing the sights. This is a relatively flat walk.
Distance total: 6.4 miles.
There are lots of dropout points.
There is no waitlist for this hike. We welcome all who wish to join us.

MEET: at 9:45 am at Green Acre Park, 217 East 51st Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenue, on the north side of the street). This is a private park with public access. There is seating there.
Bring lunch, snack, and water. There is a place to refill your water bottle in Queensbridge Park and also on Roosevelt Island. There are 2 bathrooms in Queensbridge Park and there are bathrooms on Roosevelt Island.
We will eat lunch on Roosevelt Island at McManus Field, where there are bathrooms, a few tables, benches, and a water fountain with bottle refills available.
There is a subway station on Roosevelt Island with one subway line that goes to Manhattan or to more eastern points in Queens, and there is the tram that takes people to 59th Street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan.
Anything more than light rain cancels.
