Details
Bronx, NYC
Join us for an approximately 7-mile moderately paced hike through Pelham Bay Park. Leader’s choice of trails with a visit to Hunter Island, and lunch at Orchard Beach. We will hike on a few remote trails.
Restrooms are available at the beginning of the hike and again at Orchard Beach. Orchard Beach offers picnic benches and restrooms, making it a comfortable lunch stop.
Directions: Take the IRT number 6 train to Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx — this is the last stop on the line. Please plan to arrive by 9:45 AM and meet at the restrooms inside the park, located in a stone building easily visible and just a short walk from the train station and parking lot.
Tip: Check the Saturday 6 train subway schedule to ensure arrival by or before 9:45 AM. If you have a choice, arriving earlier is better. Also, there is a bus from Flushing that stops at Pelham Bay Park. GROUP SIZE LIMIT- 45 persons.

Look for me sitting at a picnic table near the restrooms, where I’ll be taking attendance. The hike will begin shortly after attendance is taken, around 10 AM. Expected duration: approximately 3 to 4 hours (subject to change).
Coordinates of the meeting location:
Latitude: 40.8517
Longitude: -73.8246
Driving Instructions: For those driving, free parking is available at Pelham Bay Park, near the intersection of Middletown Road and Stadium Avenue. The location can be a bit tricky to find, so I strongly recommend using a GPS or a mobile map app to plot your route in advance. Once parked, walk a short distance to the park restrooms, located in a stone building. Please plan to arrive by 9:45 AM.
