Let's spend a fun day walking through the beach communities of Brooklyn before checking out the Sand Sculpting Competition in Coney Island!

We'll meet at the Sheepshead Bay station of the B/Q train (take stairs to street at back end of station), starting our walk through the Manhattan Beach area with their over the top homes, stopping at Manhattan Beach for a rest stop/ snack break.

We'll then continue to the boardwalk in Brighton Beach, passing the Aquarium and rides to hit the sand in Coney Island and watch the sand castles being built.

The 34th Annual Coney Island Sand Sculpting Competition Categories include Adult Solo Artist, Family, and Adult Group, with cash prizes awarded to winners. Competition runs from 12 to 4pm.

Bring sunscreen, hat, water, noting we will be walking quite a bit through unshaded areas in direct sun. Pace will be leisurely-moderate.

MANY options once we're there:
Take a towel & spend the afternoon on the beach OR continue walking past the Parachute Jump to the pier OR to the boardwalk's end at Seagate. SO many ways to enjoy the day, including having a late lunch/ beer/ ice cream at one of the places along the boardwalk.

Access to the D, F, N, and Q trains for your return on the corner of Stillwell & Surf Avenues.
