Sunday Morning: Remembering Dolly at 9:25

Meet: Sunday, September 6, 2026 at 9:25 a.m. at the back entrance of Port Authority, 9th Avenue between W 40th and W 41st Streets.
Time: 9:25 a.m. to about 12:00 p.m.; about 2 miles.
Pace: Moderate, with multiple stops to listen to Dolly’s songs; flat city streets and paved paths in Central Park.
Bring: Water, sunscreen, hat. This is a relatively short event, and there will be no lunch break.
Restrooms: In Port Authority at the start; in Central Park near Columbus Circle at the end.
In case of rain, we will reschedule the walk.

Although New York City doesn’t have many landmarks directly tied to her life, today’s walk will visit a few places of significance as we remember her spirit and the joy she brought to so many. We’ll start at 9:25 — a small tribute to Dolly’s “9 to 5” — and we’ll play a Dolly Parton song related to each place we visit.

We’ll begin at Port Authority because it’s a place of arrival and a fitting spot to start our music‑inspired tour with a forward‑looking song, “Peace Train.” Other stops include:

• St. James Theater — future home of Dolly: A True Original Musical, inspired by her life and music.
• Marquis Theater — where the musical 9 to 5 was staged in 2009.
• Carnegie Hall — where Dolly gave her historic and only performance in 1993 during the 10‑day “Country Takes Manhattan” festival.
• Her Fifth Avenue penthouse — a glimpse of where she lived during her New York years.

From there, we’ll walk through Central Park to Columbus Circle, where the walk will end.

The two‑mile tour lasts from 9:25 a.m. to about noon. In case of rain, we will reschedule the walk.
