Longtime Shorewalkers Kiki Black and Prathima Christdas (aka Chris) will lead you through the renovated flood-proofed Wagner Park and the under-construction North/West Battery Park City. We’ll
treasure-hunt poetry and artwork along the way.

We start at the Edna St. Vincent Millay poem at the South Ferry Whitehall Terminal and then walk along the shoreline, zigzagging through three Battery Park City Resiliency Project passages.
After a leisurely lunch break at Hudson Eats in the Brookfield Place complex, we will stroll down the soon-to-be-disappeared Poetry Walk (e.g., Lorca, Clifton, grade-school kids) to the Real-World statue park and Children’s Garden.

Distance: The entire round trip route is approximately 7 miles, one-way approximately 4 miles.

Pace: Slow to moderate stop-and-go pace, so might not work for Shorewalkers who prefer fast walks. Only the adaptable and adventurous need register as the route includes narrow BPRP passages,
occasional retracing, and pauses at various points.

Meet at 10:45 AM near the restrooms on the second floor of the South Ferry Whitehall Terminal. The walk starts promptly at 11:00 AM. Approximate end time is 3:30 PM.

Dropout options: World Trade Center/Fulton Hubs for the subway and PATH; NYC and Waterway ferries outside
Brookfield Properties; a short walk to the Wall Street ferry.

Guests are welcome; please have them sign the waiver and release via this link to participate. Guests should also be familiar with the walk description.

Bring: Water, lunch, snacks, and anything else you might need. You can also buy lunch/snacks at Hudson Eats during our lunch break. Sunscreen/hat/scarf strongly recommended. Please check the weather forecast for what to wear.

Restrooms: at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal and Brookfield Place

Rain date to be determined. (Light rain doesn’t cancel.)

Registration opens at 5 PM today, October 12th. If you must cancel, please do so by 9 PM on Saturday. Before registering for the walk, please

  • read the entire description
  • check your schedules to make sure that you're not double or triple booked for SW walks on Sunday
