THIS WALK IS NOW FULL, I WILL ONLY MOVE MOTIVATED MEMBERS (did you text Cameron?) TO GOING IF WE GET A CANCELLATION.

Leisurely paced walk around Morristown, NJ visiting various historic sites and receive free tour of Ford Mansion (see photo) where Washington stayed during winter of 1779-80. About 5 miles, 4.5 hours. Walk ends one block from the train station with optional happy hour at Glenbrook Brewery.

MEET: 11:28am on platform at the Morristown train station where members will be getting off train from NYC. Due to time constraints, we will leave promptly at 11:30am and walk directly to our first stop at Schuyler-Hamilton house for a 11:45 group talk & tour.

SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL SERIES: This walk is the second of a three part series of walks that will feature the important role New Jersey played in the Revolutionary War. The other two walks are New Brunswick (October) and Princeton (December)

HIKE LEADERS: New Jersey resident, Cameron Smith, leads this walk.
email: camerons@gmail.com; cell: 908-672-9250
Co-leader Ellen Fleishman will meet members in Penn Station to ride NJ Transit together. cell: 917-734-7813

WALK DETAILS:
Take a leisurely walk with commentary, and at least two bathroom stops along the way, checking out many sites of interest in historic Morristown NJ. I have arranged for a special group tour at 11:45AM at the Hamilton-Schuyler House where we are being asked to make a $5/person voluntary donation. Next, we will walk to the Morristown National Historical Park to take a free 1PM tour of Ford Mansion (see photo) where Washington headquartered during the winter of 1779-80. We will take another 30 minutes for brief bathroom/lunch break as well as visit the museum next to Ford Mansion. We then walk about a mile to start a walk thru the grounds of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, follow part of the Patriot's Path to go back to Morristown National Historic Park and then continue back to downtown Morristown visiting several other historic sites.

We end our walk with an optional happy hour at the Glenbrook Brewery a block from our starting point at the train station. The Glenbrook Brewery allows visitors to bring outside food, see website for more details:
