Explore Uvac Meanders- home of Griffon Vulture, and wild beauties of Tara and Zlatibor Mountains
A paradise for nature lovers in a slow adventure in the wilderness of western Serbia. Enjoy watching the mighty Griffon Vultures above the Uvac canyon. Special departures will be organised for the brown bear and deer watching (from late autumn to early spring).

Three days of hiking with daily hikes from 3h30 to 4h30, with the maximum accumulated ascent up to 730 meters

DAY 1 - Arrival
Meeting the tour leader and the group late afternoon in Mokra Gora- Hotel Mecavnik. After introductory briefing free time and dinner. We suggest to relax in a swimming pool and sauna for the perfect beginning of the trip.
If you arriving by your own car, you will leave the car at the hotel’s private parking.

DAY 2 - Meanders of Uvac and Griffon Vultures
From Mecavnik we drive to Uvac river (1h50). Today we go in search of the griffon vultures in their homeland of Uvac Nature Reserve. Our destination is only a short distance from Sjenica town and we’ll begin by taking a hike to the view points where we hope to see vultures soaring above the limestones cliffs across the canyon. The reserve is also home to 104 other types of Eurasian birdlife and offers spectacular views of the Uvac River which meanders below. We'll hike down the side of the canyon to the riverbank to take the boat ride which will take us to the entrance of Usac Cave. The cave is 7km long but we will proceed 500 meters into its depth discovering with flashlight stalactites and stalagmites that have been patiently standing in the darkness of the cave for thousands of years.

DAY 3 - Zlatibor Mountain hiking
After breakfast, we transfer to the Zlatibor Mountains (1 h). Here we start a full-day hike to some peaks of the Cigota Massif (1422 m). In the evening transfer to the old village of Sirogojno, an open-air museum and our overnight stay. Here you will learn about the traditional construction of the region from the 19th century and enjoy the delicious homemade food in the evening.

DAY 4 - Tara National Park- home of the brown bears
After 1h30 long drive, we arrive on Mitrovac in the heart of the National Park Tara. From there we walk through the pine forests to get to the most famous viewpoint in Serbia- Banjska Stena. From this vantage point, we will be looking over the impressive Drina Canyon and mountains in neighbouring Bosnia. The Drina River roams through this magical landscape and draws the border between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The dense dark forests of Tara mountains are home to the brown bear, wolves, foxes, deer, etc.

We return to Mecavnik around 16h00 when you can start your trip back home.

BEAR AND DEER WATCHING DEPARTURES (extra charge): from late autumn to early spring, we will have a chance to watch those grandiose animals. We will be accompanied by the park’s rangers and use one of the observatories set up for the bear watching so we could see them in their natural environment from a safe distance. As they are wild animals, it is necessary to be patient, still, and quiet, to see the bears. From our experience, the chance to see them during the cold days is pretty high as they have regular habits and come to specific places to feed.
