First Meeting: American Short Story Reading Group

Details
Come enjoy an evening of reading and discussion! Get away from the screen and meet other young people in Berlin who are interested in literature.
Under the shade of a tree in Viktoria park, we will read and discuss “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson. You do not need to have a literature degree nor expertise in American fiction/history (I have neither). This will be a relaxed and non-academic discussion about an interesting short story.
The text will be provided. But feel free to bring a cold beer and/or a snack.
We will meet at the entrance at the bottom of the waterfall and walk to our reading spot together.
“The Lottery,” Jackson’s most famous short story, interrogates violence and tradition in small-town America. Despite being published in 1948, the themes are (sadly) highly relevant today.
