MLK said in 1963 "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
In 1964, Malcom X said "Concerning nonviolence, it is criminal to teach a man not to defend himself when he is the constant victim of brutal attacks."
60 years later, how do these two opposing ideologies hold up? Is violence ever the answer? If so, when?
This doesn't just have to be a discussion on political dissent, we can break it down to the bully on the playground or a physically abusive partner.
