Set up by Janire, a qualified Mountain Leader, this group is to encourage and support you to reap the benefits of the Great Outdoors. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a newbie looking to connect with like-minded individuals, you'll find a supportive community here.
Join us for our FREE monthly beginner friendly walks, weekend adventure getaways across the UK and bucket list hiking adventures abroad. We'll also be organising social events that celebrate our love for the great outdoors. Let's lace up our boots, breathe in the fresh air, and create lasting memories together.

Join us on Saturday 7th June on this scenic hike through Hafren Forest to the source of the River Severn on Pumlumon, the highest peak in Mid Wales. The route will take us through enchanting woodlands, past beautiful waterfalls, and along the boardwalk to the very spot where Britain’s longest river begins its journey. We'll have a packed lunch whilst out.

### Route Highlights
- Hafren Forest: Wander through 40 square kilometres of serene pine and spruce trees.
- Waterfalls: Pass by stunning waterfalls, including the impressive Blaen Hafren Falls.
- Boardwalk Path: Enjoy the elevated pathway through the forest along the edge of the River Severn.
- Source of the River Severn: Reach the wooden post marking the start of Britain’s longest river, which flows 220 miles to the Bristol Channel.
- Wildlife Spotting: Keep your eyes peeled for red kites and other forest creatures!
- Carreg Wen Standing Stone: Marvel at this glistening quartz Bronze Age standing stone—a silent testament to the lost beliefs of the Bronze Age people who worked at the nearby Nant yr Eira mine. If you look closely, you might spot their burial tombs on the slopes of Pumlumon.
- Nant yr Eira Mine: “Stream of snow” in Welsh, this historic mine once yielded copper and lead ore used to craft tools and weapons. We'll visit the remnants of this industrious past, so prepare to time-travel through ancient craftsmanship!

Join us on Monday 9th June for an unforgettable sunset hike up The Wrekin, one of Shropshire’s most iconic hills. We’ll follow a well-trodden path through peaceful woodland before emerging onto open ground for sweeping 360° views from the summit. As the sun begins its descent, we’ll settle in with blankets and snacks to soak up the golden hour glow from the top—pure magic.
Don’t forget your headtorch for the journey down and a blanket or warm layer to wrap up and stay cosy while we watch the sun go down.### Why Join?

🗻 The Wrekin Summit (407m): A legendary hill steeped in myth and local folklore, rising proudly above the Shropshire Plain. The climb is short but steep—and totally worth it for the views.
🌅 Sunset Views: On a clear evening, you’ll see all the way to the Malvern Hills, Brecon Beacons, and even Snowdonia. Bring your camera or just your eyeballs—this is one for the memory bank.
🌳 Woodland Trails: Start and finish under the leafy canopy of The Wrekin’s ancient woodlands, home to owls, woodpeckers, and the occasional startled squirrel.
📚 Iron Age Hillfort: The summit is topped by the remains of a hillfort, adding a little slice of history to your adventure.### Event Details

🎉 This event is extra special as we celebrate Ray of Sun Adventures’ 2nd Birthday! 🎉
Join us for a day full of fun, adventure, and connection as we mark this milestone with an epic hike through the Dark Peak, a delicious picnic from Coleman’s Deli, and a refreshing swim at Hathersage Swimming Pool. And of course, there will be cake—because no birthday celebration is complete without it! 🥳🍰
Starting in the vibrant village of Hathersage, we’ll collect our picnic boxes from Coleman’s Deli in the morning before setting off on a circular hiking route packed with dramatic landscapes and panoramic views. Coleman's Deli cater to all dietary requirements. You can make these known in the consent form upon booking. Our lunch stop will be up on the hills, giving us a well-earned break to enjoy our locally sourced picnic with spectacular views. Once we return to Hathersage, we’ll round off the day…

- Terrain: A mix of rocky paths, open moorland trails, and woodland tracks
### The Route
This stunning 13 km circular route will take us through some of the Peak District’s most iconic locations:
🌄 Higger Tor – A dramatic peak standing at 1,424 feet (434 m), providing breathtaking panoramic views over Burbage Valley and the ancient hill fort of Carl Wark.
🧗 Stanage Edge – One of the most famous gritstone escarpments in the Peak District, offering incredible views and a chance to watch climbers in action.
📍 High Neb Trig Point – A rewarding viewpoint offering sweeping landscapes (weather permitting!).
💧 Hood Brook Crossing – A tranquil spot to catch your breath and listen to the soothing sounds of flowing water.
