FREE Stiperstones Hike | Shropshire | 8.5km | Women Only

Join us on Monday 6th October 2025 for a free, women-only ACAI Outdoorwear Outdoorsing Club hike through the legendary Stiperstones in the beautiful Shropshire Hills.

This 10km route with 330m of ascent takes in sweeping ridge views, striking quartzite rock outcrops, rich wildlife, and fascinating history. Starting with a short, steep ascent from Snailbeach, we’ll follow the ridge towards the jagged mounds of the Devil’s Chair, before reaching Manstone Rock — Stiperstones’ summit at 536m. Those who want an extra challenge can enjoy a short scramble to the very top.

Formed some 480 million years ago during the Ice Age, this rugged landscape is also home to red grouse and in autumn, bursts into a purple haze of blooming heather and ripe bilberries for picking.

On the way back, we’ll step into the past with a visit to Snailbeach Mine, the most complete collection of lead mine buildings in the country, dating all the way back to Roman times.
