Unmasking violence: Are we really rational beings, in control of our choices?

We all know the impact of violence all too well. Yet is it as simple as blaming perpetrators for their poor choices? Dr Anna Gillions draws on 5 years of research with young men who engage in public violence to explore some of the drivers for violent behaviour. Together we will explore some of the ways in which our environments and emotions drive our actions.

Visit The Hive to see an exhibition of the art and imagery used by participants during the research.

About the speaker - Anna has spent over 25 years working with a diverse range of vulnerable people in social care settings, specialising in advocacy, behaviour and conflict, trauma, and training/facilitation. She researched marginalisation, shame and aggression as part of a PhD with the Centre for Trust Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University.
