Shut Up & Write - DC at Sonny's

Join us for an hour of writing! No critiques, no pressure, just dedicated time to focus on your writing.

Whether you're joining us to work on a novel, poetry, work, or a letter, all forms of writing are welcome. It can be tough to find time to focus - and discipline is easier with a group that is supporting each other.

We'll meet at Sonny's on their back patio (which is heated in winter months!). Please buy something to ensure we're welcome back. I will have a sign noting the general area we are in, but you are welcome to work separately at another table if you prefer.

SCHEDULE:
7:00 - Quick introductions
7:20 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
8:20 - Writing time concludes; folks are welcome to mingle and chat, keep working, or head home

Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

Bring your writing materials (such as a notebook or a charged laptop - outlets are limited.) And if you'd like to tune out other patrons at Sonny's or any overhead music, we recommend bringing headphones or earplugs.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: Just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
