Shut Up & Write! Rotterdam IN PERSON

NOTE: This is an EXTRA EDITION, on a DIFFERENT LOCATION and with a slightly different schedule (see below for both!).

Join us on (bi)weekly Thursdays for some focussed writing. It can be strikingly helpful to write with other writers. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

This Shut Up & Write is hosted in Rotterdam and has been running (outside Meetup) for about a year now, with both Dutch as international attendees from all over Europe and the world. Most attendees are creative writers, who are writing short stories, novels, poetry or memoir. However if you’re gasping for some focussed writing time on other stuff (a blog, an article etc.) feel free to join us.
We offer a space for writers of all skill levels to work on their craft. So whether you are a seasoned writer or a beginner who aspires to write and wants to explore the craft, you are most welcome.

Being a writer we sometimes can lose track of time or we might manipulate time altogether in our stories. However for this Shut Up & Write we do follow a schedule.

SCHEDULE (this extra edition slightly different than usual)
9:50 Walk in and get settled with coffee or tea
10:00 Welcome, quick round of introductions on what you’re going to work on
10:15 ~ 10:30 Start, just Shut Up & Write.
For 90 minutes straight (no group break)
11:45~12:00 End of session. Short round, everybody briefly can share how they did. If you wish, you can stick around for a chat, coffee or lunch.

BEING LATE IS OKAY. Just take a seat at our table, start to write on your own project until the break when you can check in with us. Of course you can also leave early.

Some other practical stuff:
- This is a free event, but please order a drink as a courtesy to the cafe which provides us the space.
- Bring headphones if you want to block out surrounding noise.
- This event is usually organised every (or every other) Thursday morning. Sometimes we do extra editions. Follow this group or our Insta account for recent updates.
- This event is mostly held at Torentuin in Rotterdam Noord (Liskwartier). Info at https://torentuin.com/, however occasionally extra editions can be hosted elsewhere in Rotterdam (check specific details per event please).

CODE OF CONDUCT
- Keep in mind that Shut Up & Write events is about doing the writing, so we don’t share what we’ve written or critique each other. Also this is not a writing class.
- Shut Up & Write offers a safe space for both experienced as aspired writers. Please be respectful to your fellow attendee and don’t give unsolicited advice.
