Join us for an afternoon writing marathon! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you between 1 and 5pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
1:15 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
2:15 - break time and water/coffee stretch break
2:30 - round two of focused writing
3:30 - stretch number 2.
3:45-5:15pm - push to the end.
5:15 - (the end) chat / take off / keep writing. WeWork closes at 6pm.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 5:30. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at WeWork!
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
Other Important Details:
Come to the WeWork Lobby at 81 Prospect Street and they send you up and over the skybridge to 77 Sands Street, where the conference rooms are.
We’ll be in room 6C.
Bring a photo ID and scan it at the guest registration tablets at the front desk when you arrive at WeWork for your Meetup event. If your photo ID does not successfully scan, check in at the tablet as a guest of "Meetup Event" (select my name as the host if that’s an option).
WeWork has WiFi, coffee, tea, water, and beer on tap. Help yourself!
