Writing Meetup and Social
Details
Our meetups run every Sunday at the Wilson Kitchen cafe, so make a note in your calendar!
If you're not familiar with the concept, Shut Up & Write! is an international non-profit that sponsors writing groups around the world. The aim of this network is to provide writers (amateur, professional, bloggers, authors, researchers and everything in between) with focused writing time, to help with building discipline and better habits. We invite any and all writers to attend, whether you're contemplating a novel, journalling, or working on a PhD; our remit is very broad.
Our writing group in Cheltenham meets at the 'Wilson Kitchen', the cafe for the Wilson Art Gallery and Museum; we've booked the two rooms to the right behind the back of the cafe counter. Our group is pretty casual, and the format is simple; arrive anytime from 10:15 to 10:30 if you want an opportunity for a quick chat and catch-up with others. From 10:30 to 12:30 is our quiet writing time, so bring whatever you're comfortable writing with, laptops, notebooks etc. At the end we have a chat for an hour or so, from 12:30 to 13:30.
A few things you need to know; as requested by the Wilson staff it's a condition of attending the event that everyone buys at least one drink, thank you! The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum is run by a non-profit charity, they depend on the contribution of visitors and cafe customers to continue to run their great variety of exhibitions and community events. We also have a limit of 25 attendees for our events, so if your plans change please remember to update your RSVP to let us know you won't be coming and allow someone else to get a spot if there's a waitlist, thanks.
Transport-wise, there are plenty of car parks nearby if you're driving (I'd recommend referring to Parkopedia or Google reviews to look up options), and bus connections too. But looking forward to seeing you! :)
