Shut Up & Write!® in Durham

Join me for some focused writing time in Durham.

All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written.

This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area.

When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink (venue dependent), and get your writing tools ready.

Once everyone’s arrived, I will lead quick introductions. You can state your goals/intentions if you wish or just say hi, then I will set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session.

We will do three sprints: 40 mins, 50 mins and 30 mins. Each will be followed by a comfort break.

After the final sprint, we’ll have time to chat about what we’ve worked on or just get to know each other.

If you don’t have time to stick around, no worries! If you need to leave early, that’s okay too.

A note about the format:
We don’t host critiques or readings nor provide writing prompts or instruction. These events are a safe space for writers of all skill levels and genres to work on their projects and craft, so no one will read or critique your writing.

If you are late, please feel free to join silently but once the sprints are underway, please don’t interrupt anyone else’s writing time.

Please note that events are free but when hosted in a coffee shop environment, the purchase of a drink will support the venue and encourage them to welcome us back.

Please also note that I post my events in other groups and everyone is welcome.

Member numbers change and are limited for the venue so please keep your RSVP up to date so everyone who can make it can get a spot.
