Shut Up & Write! Fort Lee/Bergen County

Join us for an hour of writing!

Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. But if you'd like to discuss, get feedback, or need a sounding board, we're a friendly bunch that enjoys helping.

We start with intros & discuss our writing projects then get settled and start writing.

There's usually plenty of room, so even if you're late or it's a last minute decision, come on by and join us.

SEATING: I'll be at one of the large tables with a laptop and a "Shut Up & Write" sign.

GUIDELINES: No outside food is allowed. Please respect the business owners by purchasing something there. They have plenty of coffee & non-coffee drinks as well as tasty food and desserts.

• Bean & Bean DOES have WiFi.

• There are outlets, but it’s always better to be prepared and come with your laptop charged.

• Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.

PARKING: Hudson Lights has a parking garage that's free for 90 min. After that you have to pay (Up to 3 hours: $4. Up to 4 hours: $5).
Street parking can be found within a few blocks.

OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens before and after writing. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
