About us

Sideways Social runs low-pressure social outings for neurodivergent adults in Canberra.

We’re starting with outings because they’re simpler to run well while Sideways Social grows. Over time, we will expand into small indoor sessions too, including Lego, art, board games, and other relaxed activities in hired rooms.

Sideways Social is for people who want social connection without having to mask, perform, or push through an event in the “right” way.

You can talk if you want to, but there’s no pressure to be chatty. You can come quietly, take breaks, arrive late, leave early, use headphones, or participate in the way that works for you.

Events might include gentle walks, gallery visits, café stops, drawing outings, or other relaxed local activities.

Listings include practical details like where to meet, what to expect, accessibility notes, and how to find the host.

This group is especially for neurodivergent adults, including autistic people, ADHDers, and people who find typical social events tiring, vague, or overwhelming.

The aim is to make it easier to show up as you are, with enough structure and clarity to feel less alone in the process.
