What we’re about
The Sierra Club is the largest and oldest (founded in 1892) environmental organization in the world. The Crossroads Group of the Sierra Club serves greater Livingston County in Michigan. Our mission is to get people outside to enjoy the natural world leading to their understanding and desire to protect it for our families and for our future. See our website for more information about our group.
Please support our sponsors: Snedicors (Sustainable Dry Cleaning & Laundry with Free Pick-Up), Earthwise Pet (Nutrition Center and Wellness Spa in White Lake; 10% off first purchase if you mention the Sierra Club), Good Fat Life (a lifestyle magazine, podcast, workshops, and wellness events), Michigan Solar Solutions (mention Sierra Club for special rates), Brighton Chamber of Commerce, BigPDQ, Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop (mention Crossroads Sierra Club for 10% off in store, not combined with other offers).

See all- Adopt a Highway Fall Cleanup #1Park & Ride, Brighton, MI
Please come take 2 hours of your day to help do something good for the planet! We will have a "best trash" contest - with a prize for the person who finds the most interesting/funny piece of trash.
Everyone who has volunteered with us for past highway cleanup events has always enjoyed the comradery of our friendly group, and the satisfaction of knowing they helped.
We do not go near the freeway or the shoulder of the road, so you don't have to worry about safety.
Our adopted stretch of the I-96 highway in Brighton is in great need of cleaning - we need as much help as we can get to clean up our little part of the planet!Bring/wear:
- work gloves (a good, sturdy pair)
- long work boots or hiking boots
- long pants (with cinch bottoms or ankle straps if you have them)
- water (we'll keep water in the cars which we will be going back and forth to)
- a "grabber bar" if you have one (we have several to loan)
- a snack (optional)
NOTE: Bags, vests, and bug spray will be provided
If this is your first Adopt A Highway please click here to watch a short video before committing to this event as a you will need to sign a paper saying you viewed it. We will give you safety instructions and answer any questions before we begin. We will meet at the north side Park and Ride lot off Spencer road and I-96 (see map link attached to this meetup), then follow each other in a few cars to the highway cleanup locations.
NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL SIERRA CLUB EVENT; IT IS SPONSORED BY MDOT (MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION)
