What we’re about

The Sierra Club is the largest and oldest (founded in 1892) environmental organization in the world. The Crossroads Group of the Sierra Club serves greater Livingston County in Michigan. Our mission is to get people outside to enjoy the natural world leading to their understanding and desire to protect it for our families and for our future. Due to the rain forecast we are postponing this hike to next Wednesday (6/25)
Join us for a 3.6-mile out-and-back Newburg Lakeview trail in Livonia. This trail is moderately challenging.
Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Please arrive at 6:45 PM for sign in so we can start promptly at 7 PM.
Parking is free, but there will be limited parking available, so we encourage carpooling.
We will meet in the parking lot of Lake Pointe Yacht Club.

Spring Mill Parking Lot, Brighton, MI
This is a Friends of Island Lake sponsored event. Please join us for gentle yoga on the beach, (weather permitting) all summer long on Saturdays from mid-May until the end of September. Please also consider joining us on these Sundays: May 28, June 8, June 22, July 6, July 20, August 3, August 10, August 24, September 7, September 21.

Class takes place at Spring Mill Pond. Please allow for a little extra driving time as Spring Mill Pond is approximately 3 miles from the entrance of the park.

Bring your yoga mat plus a towel to put under the mat. Water and a hat or sunglasses are recommended. You may also bring your own yoga props. All levels and abilities are welcome. Classes are led by Mark or Ann, certified and experienced yoga instructors.

Please arrive at 8:45 AM for set up so we can start promptly at 9:00.

Cost: $5-$20 donation for instructor, plus state park entry fee or state parks passport.

Note: This event will be cancelled if there is rain or if it is very cold. Check this page on day of event for status.

Volunteer at our refreshment stand for free entry to the annual Balloonfest in Howell!

Our Sierra Club Crossroads Group will have its popular refreshment stand at the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest. This event provides funding for all the activities that make our group an important part of the community including our outings, programs, newsletters, and our political and conservation work.

Volunteers are welcome to come early or stay late to enjoy all the activities and spectacles surrounding the festival. Volunteers are still needed for the following shifts:
Saturday, June 28: 12-4 PM, 2-6 PM, 5-9 PM, 6-10 PM
Sunday, June 29: 2-6 PM, 5-9 PM
