Join us for a late spring / early summer 6.5 mile or 2 to 3 mile hike at one of the best and largest state parks in Michigan - Waterloo Recreation Area!

We will meet out in front of the Gerald Eddy Discovery Center and then split into 2 groups.
For the 6.5 mile route: we will be hiking the Oak Woods, Hickory Hills, and Lakeview Trails. The pace will be moderate, at best, with breaks for snacks, water, and photos, so if you are a fast hiker this is NOT the hike for you! These trails are moderately hilly, so please make sure you are in good enough shape to handle them before committing to this hike.

For the 2 - 3 mile route: we will hike at a slow "nature-walk" pace on the Bog Trail and Lowland Trail. We can add an optional additional 1 mile loop if people are interested.

Please bring your own snacks, sufficient water for the day, and good hiking shoes are recommended (hiking poles optional). Dress for the weather conditions.

Depending on interest, we may go out to eat afterwards at a good, nearby restaurant in the charming town of Chelsea. For those doing the longer hike and going out to eat afterwards (if we decide to) we will probably finish around 4:00 pm.

Cost: Free, but requires state park entry fee or passport.

Please arrive at 10:45 AM for sign-in so we can start promptly at 11:00.

Click the map attached to this meetup to be directed to Gerald Eddy Discovery Center parking lot. Note that this is the LAST LOT on the road. Sometimes Google maps directs people to the lot before the last lot - keep going until you reach the last lot.

We look forward to seeing you there!
